MOMMY TONK is the love child of Expressing Motherhood Alums Stacie Burrows and Shannon Noel, a musical comedy duo based in Los Angeles. Shannon and Stacie both learned how to sing in church choirs in the South. They learned how to curse after becoming mothers. Now as Mommy Tonk they sing songs that can't be heard by their children or anywhere near a church. And they know that God will forgive them because, after all, he's a dad.
Two Moms. One Guitar.
Cursing in perfect harmony.
Meet Stacie...Stacie Burrows is one funny mother of two. She should probably have her mouth washed out with soap. A veteran of stand up comedy, Stacie got her start on the Lower East Side of Manhattan in the late 90s alternative comedy scene. She has performed at: Caroline's on Broadway, Gotham Comedy Club, The Hollywood Improv, The Comedy Store, MBar, M.I.'s Westside Comedy Theater, 3 Clubs, the Boston Comedy Festival, and the Calgary Comedy Festival. A former student of The Groundlings, she blends her ability to sing and curse along with her comedy soulmate, Shannon Noel.
Stacie is a contributor to Felicity Huffman's award-winning websitewhattheflicka.com and has also been featured on the webseries Momma Says at ulive.com. Her writing lives at stacieburrows.com.
Meet Shannon...Shannon Noel is a writer/performer living in Los Angeles. She hails from Kentucky and stays close to her southern roots by listening to classic country music and never taking off her Tony Lamas. She is the Artistic Coordinator at The Geffen Playhouse and dedicates each day there to the memory of her late boss, Gil Cates; who until his very last day followed his artistic dreams with passion, grace and an incredible sense of humor, never forgetting that family always comes first.
Shannon is a graduate of The Second City LA and has performed sketch and improv all over Los Angeles. She stays up way too late writing for her blog www.lullabiesformommy.com and does some guest blogging on whattheflicka.com and fixthetoaster.com. You can also find her on Rooftop Media’s web series Momma Says atulive.com.
She is overjoyed to have so many men in her life; her gorgeous Southern husband, their 110 pound Old English Sheepdog and their two adventurous boys who constantly remind her what life is all about: soccer, urine and laughter!
This is the longest bio she has ever written.
